April Rush Hour jazz features - trumpeter Tom Sharp

Tom Sharp is a trumpet player, singer and keyboardist in the North of England. He won a music scholarship to the University of Warwick and now regularly performs across the length of the country with a variety of acts.

Tom’s multi-instrumentalism gives him a much sought-after insight into the workings of a band and makes him in demand particularly as a lead trumpet player (played lead with unbeaten BBC Big Band of the Year, MYJO) and a jazz improviser (playing with award-winning trio White Coffee). He has written and recorded music for stage (RST) and screen (BBC), and teaches workshops and lessons around the country. Tom has been lucky enough to perform alongside many of the biggest names in UK jazz, such as Jacqui Dankworth, Mark Nightingale and Dr John Ruddick.

He has a busy performance schedule with many different bands performing various styles of music. Current bands he performs with are The Tom Sharp Jazz Orchestra, Asaxual, Issimo, ‘Le Toot’ and his Kansas City , Phil Lyons and the New Vintage Band, Swingamathing, Tarantismo

He’ll be appearing at Rush Hour Jazz with the Jazz Leeds trio with Jeff Hewer guitar, Steve Crocker bass and Dom Moore drums

Rush Hour Jazz with Tom Sharp is @Seven Arts Wed 18 April 6-7pm
